With sunset pushed ever later by daylight savings, Mum took the kids to a Friday night food market before picking up Dad from work. The kids looked very excited at their different food choices. This may look like an ordinary ice cream cone, but the cone is actually a conical scroll of pastry (like a kürtősh) and then filled with soft-serve ice cream (with a marshmallow base, to slow the melting).

Not to be outdone, Huff chose fairy floss that was decorated with tiny orange candy circles as part of a Halloween theme. “Halloween potatoes”, she called them.

Saturday morning was sculpture by the sea with our friends. This year was the first year Huff was happy to walk around with the book, carefully looking up whether she was allowed to touch the sculpture or climb on it or both.

Sunday morning we managed to fit in a family walk before church. Mum even came along too!

Her reading continues to develop. We’re now up to “the Silver Chair” in our Narnia reading, and Huff was very excited to realise that one of the characters from an earlier book appears in the first chapter of this new book.
