week 236 / week 108

A brief pause in the midst of a sad week to talk about a few of the other things that happened this week. Dad has been spending more time reading to Huff, and she has a few favourite books that she never seems to tire of hearing.

Somewhat more troubling is that her most complex sentence constructions to date have been “[huff] watch peppa pig on iPad mini” – a little more commercial than we might have hoped.

A trip to the Zumbo lab this week afforded Puff a chance to meet one of his favourite chefs. There was even time for a photo (he impressed his parents by refusing the offer of a macaron,  as “he’d already had two” and “too much sugar makes me crazy”).

Saturday was a chance to celebrate Uncle J’s birthday. We had a party in a backyard, and the kids had a great time playing around, despite the rain: they were under some tarps, and could run around.

Puff had been feeling a bit unwell, but managed to stay healthy almost the whole day, and then, right around dinner time, started to relapse and get a temperature.

As a result, Sunday was a quiet day, at home for the most part. Huff had some fun with her Mr Potato Head sets. She knows the names of the various things that she can add to the potato but suddenly decided that the glasses were about the right size for her.

Puff was a little too sick for pre-school, but still managed a few quiet outings, including one to a little arcade.

Huff is getting more involved in nightly prayers, filling in some of the words, and enjoying it, as far as Dad can tell.

This coming week we have a short interstate trip for Great Grandragon’s funeral. Vale Nan.
